I Prythee Take a Stride

*Felix reaches out to her*

Felix: WAIT!

*Iris is gone, just as Vibes arrives*

Felix: I thought you were supposed to be fast.

Vibes: Don't start.

Felix: Some megabots appeared, but they seemed like they were trying to capture her. Iris... who is she?

*meanwhile, by a not so nearby alleyway*

Iris: *leaning against the wall, panting* W-What's with this city... I gotta get back to the hotel. All this is giving me a headache. I couldn't hide it either, I can only hope that boy keeps it to himself. Ugh...

*She doesn't notice the eyebot tracking her*

Iris: *looking down at her hand* Psychokinesis, being able to move matter, atoms themselves... Is this a curse, or something else? I can only try and live a normal life for as long as I yet live.

*shaking her head, she coughs before heading out the alley and walking off to the hotel she was staying at, unaware of the eyebot indeed*

Iris: Oh geez, it's so late, I forgot about dinnertime...

*She stops to get something to eat*

MEANWHILE...

*Mega Fox turns to Caramel Vixen and Insect Girl*

Mega Fox: Bring her to me.

*Iris heads to a local burger place, sitting down by a window to eat*

Iris: Can't spend a lot now, but I'm hungry... Oh, I should look into a job tomorrow morning. *munch*

*Insect Girl flies toward Iris, with Caramel Vixen following*

*Iris glances out the window, first spotting Insect Girl flying towards her. She doesn't move, only looking*

Iris: That's a... big bug. That's not a bug. Oh, not now...

*Insect Girl smashes through the window*

IG: Window 2, new recruit!

*Caramel Vixen sighs as she catches up*

CV (thought): Ugh, she's been saving that.

*Iris' eyes follow Insect Girl as she crashes through, the other customers running in panic while she just stands upb looking none too happier.*

Iris: Oh-*cough* c-come on. Who are you two, what do you all want from me?!

*Caramel Vixen smiles*

CV: Sorry...my friend here is not too much on the bright side. My name is Caramel Vixen, and this
is Insect Girl.

IG: Hi.

CV: We are representatives...

IG: ...Henchwomen...

CV: ...Representatives of Mega Fox. And he is very interested in your impressive work recently.

Iris: Those are... names, alright.

*she sighs, dusting herself off before speaking on, looking a little worried*

Iris: Was that Mega-fellow behind the robots? Ah-- I've no resume to hand out, if that's what you're looking for...

*Caramel Vixen smiles*

Caramel Vixen: Here is the thing. Mega Fox can help you gain full mastery of your powers, and opportunities
that you've never dreamed of.

Insect Girl: Or you can hang around with a mental psychic who inflates on contact with caramel. And
believe it or not she's not the weirdest one of that lot.

Iris: I'd be obliged to show you my mastery of these--*a brief coughing fit interrupts her, afterwards just shaking her head*

Iris: Whoever that is sounds... weird, and I'm already seeing enough of that today. Whatever, I just want to live comfortably... If what you're offering has a decent salary, I'd be hard pressed to say no... probably.

Iris, thinking: But that boy, he too had something going on. What's with this place? Am I becoming a weirdness magnet now?

*Caramel Vixen smiles*

Caramel Vixen: Oh yeah, we could get you sorted, nice wage, place of your own. You'd like that, wouldn't you?

*Iris adjusts her glasses, mulling over it for a few seconds, before nodding at Caramel Vixen.*

Iris: As easy as that sounds, I've no better options out there as is, huh? Very well then... I'll accept your offer--for now.

*CV and IG grin, CV hands her a business card*

CV: Come along tomorrow, head to Silverfox Towers and ask to see Mr Knox.

MEANWHILE...

*Vibes clutches her head*

Felix: Miss McAllister?

Vibes: We need to find her. Now.

Felix: Right. After you!

*Iris takes the business card, looking at it, then back at the duo*

Iris: Right... Okay then.

Iris, thinking: If this doesn't backfire on me... At least I'll get something out of it.

LATER...

*Sal and Guillermo catch up with Vibes*

Sal: How come you can't find her?

Vibes: It's weird...it's like there's some kind of block there.

Guillermo: What about...?

Vibes: Rote can't track someone without a tracker on them.

*After spending the night at the hotel she's staying at, she turns on the room's TV, tuning to the news channel with yet another particular story*

Newscaster: "...and were spotted for a brief moment before leaving the scene, soon after which a civilian left several moments after the rest of the establishment had been evacuated. Our reporter lost track of this one in the northern part of the city: stay tuned as we keep track of the mystery behind this bizarre trail of heroics and damages throughout..."

Iris: I wonder who. I should get going! Silverfox Towers, huh... hope it's not too far from here.

Felix: *slips away from Vibes* i gotta find that girl

*Vibes turns to Felix*

Vibes: It's ok, we can handle this. Van...your Dad will be here in a sec.

*felix is already gone*

*Vibes sighs*

Vibes: I'd better head off before Van gets here too.

*meanwhile, Iris approaches the vicinity  of Silverfox Towers. She looks up at the building, then down to the business card she's holding*

Iris: Must be the place. For... whatever it's supposed to be, it feels quaint, if ominous. Might as well keep my guard... phew.
