I may have some videos in my mind that may interest you. 17 Million subscriber strong VanossGaming was on a YouTube panel back in 2014 with several others with a few million subscribers and they had a section on how to become popular. While the popularity talk was on getting YouTube famous, there may be things that could be taken onboard for the comic in it? he video doesn't properly start until about 19 minutes in by the way, you probably want to start in the area of 45 minutes in though.

I dunno. I came here with a reason for the post, started typing, lost the reason, and yeah, this post is all over the place. XD
but, yeah, I've watched the video, sounds interesting, good luck, I'll be over here on the forum (hopefully having fun with the crew, especially Louis and Andy) and considering how much I may donate to the Patreon when I get a job. Persistence is a factor of success, Robert, and I'd say you've got some persistence down for sure.
